What is GeoCaching you ask? Read the whole story "The History of GeoCaching" at GeoCaching.com.

On 01 May 2000, the United States announced that it would stop the intentional degradation of the Global Positioning System (GPS) signals, known as Selective Availability, at midnight Eastern Standard Time. This allowed the public the ability to receive GPS signals with amazing accuracy unlike ever before.

Soon after, GeoCaching was born. Geo, meaning Earth, and Cache, meaning to hide or store something. In GeoCaching, players hide containers all over the world and other players find the "caches" using GPS receivers and their noggins.

Each cache is unique. There are traditional caches, the dreaded micro cache, the multi-cache, puzzle caches and more. I love them all! Which one do you prefer?

Bruce holding our first Cache find along with our trusty GPS, a Magellan eXplorist 231 we named Gizmo. We found Elephant's Foot 28 May 2006 in the trails just behind our house. This is how I normally look - lost. You will have to ask Bruce if I know the difference between heading and bearing. Everytime we go somewhere and have to count off the paces, I forget to change this all important option. Go me! From HOGS HEAVEN 29 July 2006.

From a snapshot of MacCaching software. The PC version known as GSAK (GeoCaching Swiss Army Knife) is better but not produced for Macs. Still keeping my Mac though.
GSAK and MacCaching are great programs highly recommended for GeoCachers looking to track their finds, placements, status and more from home. Each is a shareware/freeware but can be purchased for a small fee as well, 10-20$. If you stick with one for a time, why not help out the developers and register the product. No, I don't work for either company.
